58,8% abv, €350, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet smoke, metallic, meat, bbq, caramel, toffee, creamy, salted butter, chocolate, floral, heather
Palate: sweet, dry, smoke, bbq, ash, leather, spicy, cinnamon, creamy, salty, vegetable oil, dark chocolate
Finish: sweet, smoke, ash, chocolate, 'hard', liquorice root
Mark: ++++/+

Conclusion: ow... my first adventures into whisky were with Islay peat. From a different distillery, true, but this brings me back to that point in time. The 33 years tamed the peat beautifully to a level it is still very present, but not overly so. Beautifully balanced.
I am sure this would be a great investment for some people that can keep this closed and re-sell in the future to the people who like to open the bottle. If you belong to the latter category and have the budget, make sure you get hold of a bottle, before it gets really overpriced.

More info: distilled in 1980, matured in hogshead #10159, bottled into one of only 136 bottles in December 2013.
