.bowmore - 12yo - douglas laing - old particular

48.8% abv, €75, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: smoked liquorice at first, briny, pencil shavings and some citrus
Palate: sweet caramelised liquorice and spicy white pepper, slightly briny and some ash
Finish: smoky, ash and sweet, fruity mangos
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: I am not a big fan of the standard Bowmores, but this is another example of how the independent bottlers can change an opinion for the better.

More info: distilled in 2001, matured in refill hogshead #10284, and bottles into one of 421 bottles in 2014.
