Basically, this is peated Tomintoul, named after the distillery's water source. A whisky created from peated malt is still a rare sight in the Speyside region, but Tomintoul has had the nerve to try...

50% abv, €40, single malt, non-chill filtered

Nose: smoke, salted butter, sweat (at first) sweet, honey, burning coals
Palate: hot, jalapeƱo peppers, sweet, honey, floral, heather, a hint of smoke
Finish: still hot, sweet, honey, again - only a hint of smoke
Mark: +++/++

Conclusion: As she develops in the glass, she gets more and more in balance. With a drop of water she is better to handle with the hotness will disappeared. Do not imagine you are about to drink a southern-Islay malt though, because that is a whole different cookie altogether.
