.tomintoul - with a peaty tang

From the Tomintoul distillery, in the beautiful Glenlivet estate deep into the Speyside region in the Highlands of Scotland, comes this mildly peated whisky. 40% abv, €25, single malt, chill filtered, caramel E150 added

Nose: sweet, toffee, a hint of smoke, mint, fruit, pears citrus, lemons, pineapples, floral, heather, lime-zest
Palate: gentle, sweet, creamy, honey, green herbs, lemon-thyme, citrus
Finish: medium long, only a whiff of smoke, very easy going, spicy, ground black pepper, nuts, walnuts
Mark: +++++ 

Conclusion: a subtle, or as they like to say themselves: a gentle dram. Do not try to compare her with an Islay dram, because there just is no comparison. Worth your while.
