.wemyss - velvet fig

With only 6,000 bottles to spare worldwide, Wemyss malts have composed a blended malt (of unknown composition), that has fully matured in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks. As a golden Wemyss rule, the name of the whisky perfectly reflects the content of the bottle.

46% abv, €40, blended malt, non chill-filtered

Nose: warm apples, sweet, warm apple-pie, spicy, cinnamon, citrus, oranges, dried fruits, apricots and - yes - fresh figs
Palate: sweet, a hint of honey, green apples, fresh apple juice, sharp, spicy, ginger, cinnamon, dried fruits (figs are there too), dark chocolate, hazel nuts (Nutella)
Finish: slight dry, long, sweet, dark chocolate, nuts (more Nutella), citrus, dried orange peel (sipped in chocolate), dried fruits - more figs
Mark: ++++/+

Conclusion: when you do not like fresh figs, you better leave one of these bottles for someone that does. A very nice dram and a must find for our selection before they run out of stock.

many thanks to Wemyss Malts for supplying us with a sample
