.ancnoc - 1993

When we were at the Knockdhu distillery, we had tasted several anCnoc whiskies, every one of them sweet and gentle experience. We somehow received a miniature of the 1993 vintage which brought us back to the fond memories of that particular day.

46% abv, €35, single malt, non chill-filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, honey, citrus, lemon, fresh, fruity, ripe green apples, fresh herbs, lemon balm, gentle mint
Palate: spicy, hot, chilli peppers, herbal, lemon balm, a hint of cloves, sage, sweet, vanilla, honeycomb, fresh fruit, apples
Finish: sweet, vanilla, honeycomb, quite short (sadly), herbal, sage, a hint of bay leaf and a slight marmalade bitter
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: a wonderful dram, I wish they would have made more. All the more reason to look for the other vintages they have been releasing. Good stuff.

More info: distilled in 1993, bottled in 2007 and sadly, this has been discontinued as a single vintage bottling and they are all out. If you find one of the remaining bottles, chances are prices have been doubled, or even tripled.
