.black maple hill - small batch straight bourbon

Some time ago Ansgar joined a "guess what label this image is part of" on twitter, posted by Shai. She miraculously found the correct bottle within a couple of minutes and Shai decided to send her a sample of the contents of the bottle, along with some other bourbons I still have to try.

47.5% abv, €165, straight bourbon

Nose: bourbon, sweet, vanilla, grains, maize, rye, fresh, mint, eucalyptus, spicy, sage, a whiff of liquorice-root
Palate: sweet, honey, cola, semi-dry, spicy, bay-leaves, sage, star-anise, eucalyptus
Finish: warming, slight dry, grains, anise, liquorice, a hint of glue
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: but... but... this is nice. Really, really nice... except for the hint of glue at the end of the finish. I could keep a spot open on a shelve if it were not: a) hard to find, b) rather steeply priced, c) gone. Good stuff, do not hesitate if you find it, or someone else might grab it.
