.benromach - organic - 2008-2014

The world’s first wholly organic whisky, certified by the UK Soil Association, when first launched in 2006. Distilled in 2008 following the same principals as the first, and bottled in 2014, fully matured in virgin oak casks.

43% abv, €38, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, mild honey, vanilla, chalk, floral, hyacinth, fruit, ripe bananas, dark chocolate
Palate: sweet, honeycomb, spicy, red peppers, fruit, ripe bananas, creamy
Finish: spicy, red peppers, sweet, honey, floral, violets, semi-dry, fruit, bananas
Mark: ++++/+

Conclusion: Balanced. Ridiculously so.
She is spicy and velvety creamy at the same time. If you are looking for an example of an affordable whisky that does not have the raw and young feel as so many whiskies have - you have found her. One to keep in your whisky cabinet, as so many of the Benromachs turn out to be. It is time to put this distillery in the spotlight.
