.glen garioch - 15yo renaissance

The bottle states "1st Chapter in a Four Part Story", distilled in 1997 - after a short period in which the distillery was closed. Coming three years the distillery will release three more chapters in a similar, limited release by a 16, 17 and 18 year old.

51,9% abv, €75, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, toffee, milk chocolate, citrus, oranges, fresh ginger, star anise, floral, violets
Palate: sweet, warm, honey, blossom, citrus, orange-peel, milk chocolate, fresh grapes, dried fruit, apricots
Finish: gentle, medium long, semi-dry, sweet, syrup, dried fruit, apricots
Mark: +++/++

Conclusion: a very likeable and gentle dram, as most Glen Gariochs tend to be. The price is rather steep for a 15yo, so I am not sure we will be on the lookout for a bottle - she is just not special enough to spend this kind of money on...

More info: there are only 12000 bottles available.

a very generous (20cl!) sample was provided by Glen Garioch for us to taste and share among friends
