.isle of jura - cask sample - 1997-2011

Another sample from Ian Macleod's whisky warehouse. This is drawn from Hogshead #4768, on 28-09-2011.

56.3% abv, € not for sale, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, watermelon, spicy, ginger, anise, liquorice, floral, violets, fruit, pears
Palate: sweet, spicy, red peppers, anise, ginger, liquorice, fruit, pears
Finish: sweet, anise, liquorice, slight bitter, rather short
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: Funny to smell and taste an Isle of Jura without a trace of smoke or briny afterthoughts. I would have guessed this to be a Speyside or highland whisky of some sort. Good, but not special, except she is surprising for an Isle of Jura.

Many thanks to Jock Shaw for sharing this sample with us.
