.tullibardine - 1993-2009 - sherry wood finish

A Tullibardine whisky distilled in 1993 and bottled in 2009, finished in an ex-Sherry cask. Nothing more that is to be found on the label or the internet, so just let us see what I found.

46% abv, €50, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, malty, dried fruits, raisins, apricots, cherries, pipe-tobacco, nuts, walnuts, old books
Palate: spicy, cinnamon, sweet, dried fruits, apricots, citrus, dried orange peel
Finish: long, spicy, cinnamon, dried fruits, raisins, slightly dry
Mark: +/++++

Conclusion: I am not overly enthusiastic about this. Many of the notes are pleasant, but the end result, or the overall balance, is just far to find.
Tullibardine often feels a bit "raw" to me, as does this 16yo that just seems not to be ready. For me, this is a fine example of a dead 15-16yo cask that has been finished in an "not overly active" ex-Sherry cask.
