.the arran - sauternes cask finish

Originally she started her maturation for about eight years in [most likely] refill ex-Bourbon casks, after which she received an extra period of [undetermined] months in an ex-Sauternes sweet white Bordeaux dessert wine cask.

50% abv, €40, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, peardrops, honey, floral, heather, fresh red fruit, red berries, raspberries, cinnamon, citrus, orange zest, sweet blood oranges, bananas
Palate: sweet, honey, floral, heather, spicy, jalapeño pepper, liquorish, creamy, dark chocolate, ginger, citrus peel, cinnamon
Finish: sweet, spicy, jalapeño peppers, heather honey, rather short
Mark: +++/++

Conclusion: okay, not really exciting, there is one woohoo! moment with the initial finish, where the jalapeño peppers get to do their thing for a moment. Even with water, she is quite a biter!

.thanks to the Whisky Wire and the Arran Malt for shipping us the samples for the twitter tasting
