.glenmorangie - duthac

We recently received a package from the people of Glenmorangie with a foursome of whiskies which we have tasted in their inaugural twitter tasting #GlenmorangieLive. Amoug the four samples was their most recent release: the Duthac - first to be released of the new Legends series, targeted on the worlds Duty Free market in 1 liter bottles.

43% abv, €60, single malt

Nose: thick, honey, maple syrup, citrus, blood-oranges, toffee apples, warm chestnuts

Palate: creamy, sweet, honey, floral, marigolds, just ripe (or maybe still a little unripe) olives, dried fruits, apricots (and other stone fruits) citrus, blood-oranges, spicy, ginger, white pepper 

Finish: sweet, marzipan (the good stuff), apple sauce, toffee apples, long
Mark: +++/++ 

Conclusion: She should be left alone for a while after pouring, the nose is a bit off-putting at first. When she gets there, you'll recognize her as a Glenmorangie from the always present honey sweetness and citrus and apple notes. A nice start of a promising new line from the always experimenting kitchen of Dr. Lumsden and his crew.
