.hyde - 10yo

Some time ago, we were contacted by Conor Hyde of Hibernia Distillers in Ireland, with the question if he could send us a sample of their 10yo Hyde whisky, and make a little buzz around it. We gladly accepted and not much later, the sample arrived at our front door. Much later, as is to be expected of me, I am making a note. Here we go...

46% abv, €70, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, vanilla, chocolate sprinkles, fresh herbs, oregano, thyme, fruit, citrus, oranges
Palate: spicy, laurel, white pepper, sweet, milk chocolate, creamy mouth feel,
Finish: medium long, sweet, citrus, oranges, grapefruit pith, slight marmalade bitter
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: Very likeable. Please let me taste more of this.

More info: This single malt is - as is quite common practice among start up distilleries in Ireland - sourced from a single distillery and bottled under their own label. In this particular case, the whisky comes from the Cooley distillery and has matured in 1st fill ex-Bourbon casks and finished in ex-Sherry casks.

The first release is limited to only 5000 bottles.

.many thanks to Conor Hyde for supplying us with a sample
