.the macallan - 9yo - g&m

"Gordon & MacPhail bottles a series of single malt whiskies from one of the world's most famous distilleries - Macallan. Established in 1824 the distillery overlooks some of the finest fishing beats on the River Spey."

43% abv, €40, single malt

Nose: sweet, vanilla, toffee, a hint of sulphur - spoiling the nose a bit
Palate: sweet, vanilla, toffee, spicy, peppers, citrus, orange-zest, fresh orange juice, more fruits, ripe mangos, ripe bananas, milk chocolate, worn leather
Finish: sweet, strong, fruit, overripe mango, worn leather, a touch floral
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: A good thing the sulphur is only noticeable on the nose. Only nine years old, but solid proof old age doesn't necessarily mean better whisky. Quite something, a Macallan I actually like!

.a big thank you to Gordon & Macphail for the sample
