.tomatin - 12yo - cask #2036

When we were at the distillery in May 2014, we purchased two bottles of their bottle your own casks. One was an ex-Bourbon, one an ex-Sherry cask, which appeared to be the two soul survivors of the trip, safe a bunch of samples.

57.7% abv, €100
single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, vanilla, marshmallows, dried fruits, raisins, cranberries, blackcurrant, figs, floral, violets, a hint of tobacco, earthy, spicy, nutmeg, liquorice
Palate: sweet, milk chocolate, honey, dried fruits, hot, spicy, black pepper, cinnamon, a touch of tobacco, floral, heather, citrus, limes
Finish: medium long, floral, almost soapy at first, heather, violets, sweet, honeysuckle
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: There was also a bourbon cask available, from which we got bottle number 1 (woohoo!), but that is empty and I forgot to make a note... I know I liked that better, to be completely honest.

More info: Distilled on 29 March 2002, matured in ex-Sherry cask #2036, bottled on 9 May 2014 into the 288th bottle.
